AMILLO Tea
Introducing my tea brand, Amillo! I created a masala tea bag from scratch, handling everything from blending the masala to designing and printing the packaging, even adding NFC tags to the box.
The idea for Amillo came about during covid lockdown when I used to learn to cook and try new recipes. My mom had done an indian tea making online demonstration for my school and I had assisted her. I learned how to make Indian masala chai in the tradional way. I realized we didn't have any tea bags like that at home for a quick tea. So, I decided to make my own. I started by roasting the numerous spices, grinding them and mixing them with tea leaves proportionally. I used Cinnamon, Cloves, Cardomom, Fennel seeds, Peppercorn and Dried ginger and many more spices to make the spice mix. Then the spice and tea leaves mixture I filled in the empty tea bags that had been bought for this project.
Next, I thought of a brand name for my teabags and used Adobe Illustrator to design the packaging. After several iterations and tests with mockups and real samples, I finally had a design I was proud of. We ordered boxes and printed stickers for the packaging. I packed small boxes with a pouch containing 3 teabags in it as this was a project meant just for trial.
Then I moved to making full scale products, I ordered in bulk, Roasted, Crushed and packaged every tea box and sold them both locally and through various online groups.
Next I made a website for the brand where you could buy the boxes. I also put different tea recipes on it to make it more interesting.
To give the packaging a unique touch, I added NFC tags with printed stickers on it inside the box, which direct you to my website, www.amillotea.com.
Creating Amillo tea has been a great learning experience, It not only taught me how to handle and build a bussiness but also how to scale up from a prototype, in the end I sold way more than I ever would have thought possible thanks to my friends, family and everyone who supported me by buying my product.
